Memorial

Anthony Daniel Pavich Our brother Tony passed away August 3, 2011 in Santa Cruz. He was born March 6, 1957 in Lancaster, California at Antelope Valley Hospital to his father Jack Pavich and mother Shirley Dobson. He had an older brother Jack Pavich and younger sisters Julie Harper and Lori Werner. The family lived in Lancaster for the first four years of Tony's life. Then they lived in Fresno, CA for ten years. He attended McLane High School and after graduating, Tony joined the Navy. He was trained as an electrician and achieved the rank of 2nd Class Petty Officer. He was stationed aboard a refueling tanker and traveled to Ports in the Pacific. He also spent time in Thailand and the Philippines. He served in the Navy from September 1975- September 1979. In 1986, in his late twenties, Tony married Rebecca Stube and they lived in Hollister. Tony worked as an electrician at local canneries and factories repairing mechanical equipment. In 1989, the Loma Prieta earthquake destroyed their home. Tony and Becky then moved to Ontario, CA to be close to Rebecca's family. Tony continued his trade until his arm was crushed in an industrial accident. He received a settlement and they bought land in Arizona. But he could not find steady work there. Tony and Becky moved to Watsonville, CA, where they managed a motel and Tony also worked at A.A. Rider & Sons. Sadly, Becky passed away in 2004 and Tony was on his own for his last years. Tony became very depressed after Becky's death. He moved to Ben Lomond to be close to his brother Jack and he joined St. Lawrence Orthodox Church. He made many friends at the church, which he was happy and grateful to be a part of. Gradually, he recovered from his grief. Tony worked with his brother, and was learning the trade of drywall. Tony enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hiking, rock climbing and camping. The final year of his life he spent helping his brother and going out on his boat on the bay. Tony was always up for social activities and really had the "gift of gab". He had the most unique sense of humor of anyone I have ever known, and could put you in stitches on the worst of days. His favorite subjects were insects with big eyes, strange alien creatures, palm trees and crosses. Tony was loving and had a warm heart. He would have made a great father, had he had the opportunity to have children. Tony was the "favorite uncle" of his nieces and nephews. He was also very creative and made a hobby out of making metal sculptures that he would give as gifts. We will greatly miss our friend and brother Tony. Services will be held for Tony on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 12 p.m. at St. Lawrence Orthodox Church, 6192 Highway 9 in Felton. Burial will follow at Felton Cemetery at 2 p.m.
