John George Schlatter
August 30th, 1948 - August 30th, 2012
John George Schlatter passed away peacefully in his Boulder Creek home after a long battle and heroic struggle with prostate cancer. He died on his birthday at the age of 64. John was a good and decent man who loved God and strived to live his life with honor and integrity. John was born in Brooklyn, New York on August 30, 1948. For many of his happy boyhood years he lived in the little hamlet of Lake Katrine in upstate New York. He later lived for a short time in New Mexico and settled in Southern California before moving to Boulder Creek with his wife Monique in 1996. John graduated from Kingston High School in 1966. By the age of 15 he was already an apprentice machinist. He served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge. John worked in computer technology as a marketing manager, sales manager, and business owner. In 1991 he married Monique. They were soul mates, the love of each other's lives, and married for 21 years. John (Johnny to his family) had a highly intelligent, curious and questioning mind. He loved to read and to learn. He was articulate and forthright in his principles. John had a kind and generous nature, a deep soul, an appreciation of beauty, and was a loving and devoted husband. He loved his animals and his home. John had many interests: cars, Formula 1 racing, motorcycles, guns, movies, books, current events, animals, travel, nature, science and computer technology. More than anything, Johnny adored his wife Monique and loved spending time together with her. John is survived by his wife, Monique Schlatter, his younger sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Jack Wall, his older sister and brother-in-law, Louise and Vincent Deale, his mother-in-law, Pauline Zuur and his cousin and her husband, Antoinette and Leo Ursini. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Sally, his beloved grandfather, John and his father, John. A private Memorial will be held for John at home with family and friends. Any donations are preferred to, Hospice of Santa Cruz County, 940 Disc Dr. Scotts Valley, CA 95066.
