Dorothy Rater
July 11th, 1924 - December 3rd, 2013
Dorothy Rater passed away December 3, 2013 in Chico. She was born on July 11, 1924 in Burwell, NE where she spent her childhood and graduated high school, moved to California in the late 40's where she meet and married her husband of 47 years Alvin Rater, who preceded her in death in 1994. She lived in the Bay Area for many years before moving to Chico in 1969. During her working years she was a meat wrapper in various grocery stores in the Bay Area and for Safeway stores in Chico and Paradise. She was active as a Lady Elk in Chico for many years and served in a few officer positions. She enjoyed her time with the other ladies (and gentlemen) in this organization and made many friends because of it. She is survived by her only daughter Pattie Prince, son-in-law Jeff, granddaughter Sienna Prince as well as Brenda Wagner who she considered her granddaughter, her brother Earl Maxfield, close friend Art Branihall, life long friend Arlene Hausauer as well as many other relatives and family friends, many of whom calle her Grandma Dot! A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 5th at 12:30 p.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park. Condolences can be made online at www.BrusieFH.com
