Paul Jones

Family and friends will gather on Sunday November 13th to say farewell to a loving husband, father, son, brother and trusted friend, Paul Jones, who passed away unexpectedly at his home this past Monday. Born in Hammersmith, England, he was 54 years old. Paul was educated in England and received his bachelor's degree in avionics engineering from Southall College. Paul started his career in avionics engineering and IT operations at British Airways in England. He was very proud of his work on the Concorde supersonic jet. He married the love of his life, Melanie Sweet in May 1995, and the couple moved to Santa Cruz in 1991. Paul had a great passion for travel so, the couple traveled extensively. He loved to share his experiences with his daughters, which they enjoyed. Paul also had a successful career at Visa in California for over 20 years and was most recently at VMware. He was a highly respected Information Technology and Security specialist who leaves behind many close friends amongst his former colleagues. He will be remembered as a loving and dedicated man who provided for his wife and daughters. Long work days could not separate him from the love of his family. Paul was a familiar face at all his daughter's swim meets, soccer matches, and was very proud of their academic achievements. The family's loyal dog Tigger played a great role in his life. Although his job was quite serious amidst potential credit card hacking and computer viruses, Paul had a wonderfully dry sense of humor and was most happy when he was with his family. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Melanie Sweet and their three daughters; Victoria, Emma, and Georgia. Paul also is survived by his mother, Vivienne Jones and his brother, Stuart Jones, both of England. A ceremony to give thanks for his love and wish Paul farewell into his new life journey, will be held on Sunday November 13th at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel beginning at 11 a.m. There will be a larger celebration of Paul's life held in January.
