Private services will be held for Frances Drewella Beckman, 87 of Chico. She passed away July 28, 2008 at a local care facility. She was born October 6, 1921 in Woodriver, Nebraska and raised by her mother and stepfather, Drewella and Brayton Crandall. On April 2, 1939 she married Harry Beckman in Reno, NV. Frances was a member of the Chico Gem and Mineral Club as a rockhound and enjoyed doing lapidary work. She also enjoyed her cup of coffee, a cigarette and crossword puzzles. Her survivors include her son, Larry Beckman; daughter, Linda (William) Payne; four grandchildren, Kerri Lue, Deborah Payne, Teresa Miller, Kevin Beckman; two great-grandchildren, Marissa and Lillian Miller; brother, Brayton Crandall; four sisters, Norma Dietz, Ruth Rodgers, Beverly Long and Patricia Weston. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry in 1997. Donations may be made in her memory to Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Research Foundation or the Special Olympics in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
