Gerald N. Weiss
June 14th, 1923 - December 20th, 2021
Obituary Gerald N. Weiss M.D. age 98 passed away peacefully on December 20, 2021. He has called Colorado home since 1995 and was residing in Columbine Commons in Windsor, CO. Dr. Weiss was born on June 14, 1923 in New Orleans, LA. He was a graduate of Tulane University and Tulane Medical School in 1945. He promptly joined the US Army Medical Corp during World War II as an aviation physician. Gerald was stationed out of Washington D.C. where he met the love of his life Elaine Judith Bresler, they were married on a snowy February 1, 1948. Gerald and Elaine began their life in New Orleans, LA and began their family in Lake Charles, LA in 1950. Dr. Weiss practiced general surgery for over 25 years in Lake Charles. In the late 1970s he rejoined the service as a Lieutenant Cornel in the Airforce where he was stationed in Kyoto, Japan as well as Oklahoma City. Gerald and Elaine retired in Northern Colorado to be closer to their family for over 25 years. Gerald and Elaine were always stedfast in their Jewish beliefs and helped to establish a reform synagogue Or Hadash in Northern Colorado. He is survived my two children, Gary Weiss and Lauren W. Kaufman and nine grandchildren, Vivian White and Emily White daughters of Beth White, Aaron Weiss, Layne K. Short, Seth Kaufman, Karl Weiss, Ethan Kaufman, Eric Weiss, and Adam White son of Erin White and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Weiss and son, Harlan White. Funeral Services will be held on January 6, 2022 at Fort Logan Cemetery at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would be honored to accept donations to any of the following charities which Dr. Gerald Weiss valued most. 1. His commitment to his Jewish faith. Donations will be accepted in his memory to Birthright Isreal Foundation. https://birthrightisrael.foundation/donate 2. The value he placed on education, remembering history, and his patriotic duty. Donations will be accepted in his memory to New Orleans World War II museum. https://www.nationalww2museum.org/ 3. His commitment to medicine and his amazing wife Elaine Bresler Weiss who was taken from us to early.
