Julia Silva, 94, a lifelong Chico resident passed away at her home on June 23, 2008. Silva was born Oct. 8, 1913 in Chico to Julio and Joaqunia Morgado. She married her husband of 60 years, Joseph Silva on Feb. 25, 1933. Silva had eight children, five boys and three girls. She was a member of Catholic Daughters, UPC, the Portuguese Holy Ghost and Fatima Club, I.D.E.S, the Eagles, was president of the Native Daughters of the Golden West, Annie K. Bidwell Parlor. She is preceded in death, by her husband, Joe in 1993, son Daniel Silva in 1986, daughter Gloria Anderson in Feb. 2008, and two grandchildren, Julie Ann Rogers in 1967 and John Phillip Silva in 1965. She is survived by her sons Joseph Silva, III, of Chico, Alvy Silva, of Proberta, Rick Silva, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Steven Silva, of Chico; daughters Dolores Rogers of Chico and Irene Laverty of San Diego; 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Bruise Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements. There is a viewing at Brusie Funeral Home, Thursday, June 26, 2008 from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. There will be a funeral mass at St. John's the Baptist Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 27, 2008 with burial at Chico Cemetery.
