John Robert Hadley
October 17th, 1938 - January 7th, 2024
John Robert Hadley was born on October 17, 1938 in Ponca City, Oklahoma and passed away surrounded by family on January 7, 2024.John was the son of Marquis and Mary Ruth Hadley. He was raised in Oklahoma, Washington and Indiana graduating from Warren Central High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp where he served for 2 years.Afterwards, he moved to Scottsdale, Arizona where he attended Arizona State University and then met and married the love of his life, Carol Lou Clingerman in 1959. They were married for 64 years.In 1967, John moved his family to Santa Cruz where he became a sheet metal apprentice working alongside his father who was shop foreman at George H. Wilson Mechanical. He continued in the trade and in 1975, started his own company known as J.C. Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. where he employed over 1000 young people over nearly fifty years, many of whom were family members.John attended First Baptist Church of Capitola (Calvary Chapel Capitola) for 58 years where he was very active as Deacon, Youth Director and later in Senior Ministry. He had a deep faith and especially loved serving others.Some of John’s hobbies included Bridge, puzzles, choir, tennis, racquetball and playing card games with family. He enjoyed following politics and was a sports enthusiast.John was preceded in death by his parents, Marquis and Mary Ruth Hadley, brother Marquis Hadley Jr and sister, Nancy Hart.John is survived by his wife, Carol Lou of Aptos, California, son,John (Marnie)Hadley Jr of Brentwood, California, son James (Janet) Hadley of Athol, Idaho, daughter Patricia (Mark) Forno of Watsonville, California, and son Michael (Denise) Hadley of Columbia, Tennessee. His grandchildren, Jeff (Cortney) Hadley, Jessica (Bryan) Montes, Nathan (Lani) Hadley, Nicholas Hadley, Casey (Joe) Grubbs , Richard (Molly) Forno, Marquis Forno, Kristen Holmes, Chelsey (Alex) Grauke, Jenica Hadley, Caleb (Kayli) Hadley and Teegan (Doub) Hammer, as well as 14 most precious great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his aunt, Barbara Jean and his beloved sister-in-law, Joan Hadley. A memorial service will be held at Twin Lakes Church on January 26, 2024 at 11 am with a reception to follow.In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Calvary Chapel Capitola, Bridge of Hope, or Hospice of Santa Cruz.
