CORAL LORRAINE (CARTER) MOSHER It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother at age 76, in Chico, CA, after a long battle with Cancer. Coral was born in Awahnee, CA in 1932, the eldest of 4 children born to Cornelius G. and Irma Z. Carter. Coral graduated from Red Bluff High School in 1949. A year later, she met and married the first love of her life, James L. Henager, Jr., a Marine, in December of 1950 while he was stationed at McClellan AFB in Sacramento, CA. Coral and James had 6 children together, James L. Henager, III, Jeffrey L. Henager, Jerry L. Henager (d. 1982), Jeanne L. Shelsky (Henager), John L. Henager, and Colleen J. Salinas (Henager). Coral met the second love of her life, Ernest M. Mosher in Redding, CA, and they were married on April 10, 1969. With Ernie's 4 children, Mike, Laura, Elder and Becky, they raised this family of 10 children in Redding, CA until 1974, when they moved to Corning, CA. In 1986, they moved to Chico, CA, and Ernie retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Chico in 1986. They lived a happy and fulfilling life in Chico for the past 23 years. Coral enjoyed reading, crafts, Church activities and knitting. For years she created knitted socks and hats for many people at the local assisted living residences. She found great joy in giving to others. She had two loves in life: One, her love of family and two, her love for the Lord. Coral frequently expressed thankfulness for her many true and faithful friends in her Church and local community. She was a loving, devoted and steadfast wife to Ernie, her husband of 40 years, and a truly remarkable mother to her children all of their lives. She had a beautiful singing voice, and sang "live" on KBLF, a local radio station in Red Bluff, during her teenage years in the 1940's. Coral was preceded in death by James L. Henager, Jr., her first husband in 1973, Jerry L. Henager, her third son in 1982, Irma Z. Carter, her mother in 1974, Cornelius G. Carter, her father in 1992, and Robert T. Carter, her brother in 1997. She is survived by her loving husband, Ernest M. Mosher, her six children James L. Henager, III and his wife Marian, Jeffrey L. Henager and his wife Janice, Jeanne Shelsky (Henager) and her husband Thom, John L. Henager and his wife Donna, Colleen Salinas (Henager) and her husband Spencer; her 13 grand children, Marie Lanham (Henager), Sarah Smith (Henager), Kathleen Henager, Teresa Henager, Jimmy Henager, Kristine Henager, Jason Henager, Misty Coombes, Marissa Henager, Ava Henager, Megan Knight, Sara Salinas and Jake Salinas; her brother, Richard D. Carter; her sister, Darlene Vance (Carter) and husband Ron; stepchildren, Mike, Laura, Elder and Becky, and four great-grand children. A Funeral service will be held for Coral Lorraine Mosher, Friday, July 24, 2009 at Church on the Esplanade, located at 1119 Esplanade, Chico. A viewing will be held at 9:00 a.m. with services beginning at 10:00 a.m. An internment service at Glen Oaks Cemetery follows.
