Morgan Underwood

Morgan Underwood was born October 7, 1932, in Warner, Oklahoma, to Emmitt and Lena Underwood, and passed from this life on September 6, 2021, at the age of 88. Morgan was a resident of the Yuba Sutter area since 1940 when his family migrated to California from Oklahoma. He attended Yuba City High School where he graduated and then was drafted into the Army. He married his high school sweetheart, Fayrene Waire in 1952. He started into the ministry when just a young man of 16 years of age and continued until his passing. He was pastor of the Yuba City United Pentecostal Church for 45 years at which time assumed the role of Bishop and held that position until his passing. He is preceded in death by his father, Emmitt Underwood; mother, Lena Lee, sister, and his Francis Glisson. He is survived by his wife, Fayrene of Yuba City; daughter, Judy Hicks, and son-in-law Chris LaMorte both of St James, MO; sons, Randy Underwood of Yuba City, and Robert Underwood, and daughter-in-law, Cathy of Biggs; adopted daughter, Martha Snow of Yuba City; 7 He was loved by a host of people who he pastored or befriended. A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 11:00 am at the Yuba City United Pentecostal Church, 2649 E. Onstott Rd., Yuba City. Committal will be Monday, September 13, 2021, at 2:00 pm at Sutter Cemetery.
