Obituary Due to the risk of exposure to Covid-19, the memorial service for Jack Wisbon can only allow for a few immediate family to gather together for the interment of ashes ceremony in the Columbarium garden. The ceremony, memorial liturgy with scriptures and message, personal reflections, and special music will be recorded and shared for those who can't be with us that day. Jack Wisbon passed away on March 3, 2020 at the age of 62 in Fort Collins, CO. After a diagnosis of Glioblastoma brain cancer in July 2016, Jack recovered and lived through two brain surgeries, radiation, Optune, and multiple rounds of chemotherapy before the tumors became resistant to all treatments. After several other issues and too many nights away from home, he reached out for Jesus' hand and He brought him Home. He was born on January 8, 1958 in Omaha, Nebraska. Growing up, he lived in Lincoln and then Omaha. During his school years, he became involved in art, music, and athletics including football and track. He attended Westside High School, where he met Sue Westphal, and graduated in 1976. After working for the summer at Kellogg's, Jack moved to Denver to attend the Colorado Institute of Art and pursue graphic design. Sue later joined him in Denver where they created many lifelong friendships. Jack and Sue were married in Omaha, NE on July 5, 1980. The couple lived in Denver, Omaha and Fort Collins before settling in their forever home in Bellvue, Colorado. In that time, they welcomed their two children, Dave and Katie. Jack worked for ABC Sign Products and MultiCam for nearly 40 years and continued to put in hours, checking in until the last week of his life. He enjoyed traveling to many industry trade shows throughout his career where he grew lasting relationships with customers and colleagues. As an artist, he also found a talent for woodworking and contracted with Odell Brewing Company to create routed wood signs and displays that can be found throughout the state. He was proud of his creative contributions to friends and family, the Music District, and more in his Gallery of work. Music was always an important part of Jack's life, both as a fan and musician himself. He played the bass guitar with many bands throughout his full life including Still Roving, Yeehaw and the Texas WhatNots, Second Wind, Poudre River Band, 5 Day Weekend, The Waido Experience and the OSLC Praise Band. He was an avid supporter of the Fort Collins music scene and found great joy in watching his son, Dave, play keys and harmonica with several local bands. Always on the go, Jack was an avid hiker and bicyclist, making great use of nearby Lory State Park. He was also a longtime member of Pulse/Raintree Athletic Club, getting in an early workout most days. Jack cared deeply for others and his community, which led to his involvement in groups like Stephen Ministries and as a volunteer for Homeward Alliance. Jack will be greatly missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, neighbors, and members of the community. He became an inspiration to many through his positive and grateful outlook, ongoing determination, and engaging personality. He was preceded in death by his father Michael Wisbon and in-laws Calvin and Yvonne Westphal. He is survived by his mother, Patti Sortino, his wife, Sue Wisbon, and two children Dave Wisbon and Katie (George Munoz). Jack will be missed by his two grandchildren: Everett and Ruby. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Linda (Gary Karnes), Vicki (Marc Rittner), Julie (Paul Tomoser) and Karen (Don McGee) and his best friend and "brother from another mother", Tom Albracht (Kristi) and everyone in the Evans, Westphal, and Wisbon families.
