Ben Benson

Ben died on February 4 with his loving wife Sheila at his side. Daughter Megan Benson (Phil) Livernois, grandchildren Anne Mae (7) and Patrick Gregory (4), son Gregory Charles (Cindy) Benson and aunt Sister Eleanor Eagan, CSJ, survive him. Ben is also survived by sister Carol (Winny) Boersch, sister-in-law Mary Jo Benson, brother Jerry (Tina) Benson and five nieces and a nephew. Ben was pre-deceased by his mother Gladys Sperry, brother James Benson, stepfather James Sperry and father Arnold Benson. The family so appreciates the tender care Ben received from the following medical teams: Zach Koontz, MD; John Hausdorff, MD; Cassandra Ohlsen, MD; David Flemming, MD; nursing staff at CHOMP Terrace West (Monterey Peninsula) and Eila Skinner, MD (Stanford Hospital). Ben loved his life! After retiring from Pacific Bell in 1991, he earned his teaching credential and substitute taught in the Carmel Unified School District. Ben enjoyed being a student once again as he took art courses at MPC in metal arts sculpture and jewelry making, and at Cabrillo where he took furniture design courses. Ben cherished his family and loved being Grandpa to precious Anne and Patrick. Ben also loved his friends, especially his coffee and lunch posses and his pals at MPC and Cabrillo.
