Everardo Salazar
July 1st, 1941 - March 4th, 2017
Everardo (Lalo) Salazar, 75, of Salinas CA, passed away on March 4, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Everardo was born on July 1, 1941 in Tamazula, Durango, Mexico to Basilio and Anastacia (Sosa) Salazar. At the age of 15 he and his family moved to Tecolotes, Baja CA. At the age of 18 he joined the Mexican Military. In 1969, he came to California on the Bacerros Program. He worked at Ninomi Nursery for approximately 25 years. He enjoyed experimenting with flower seeds mastering in roses, creating hybrid roses, gardening, growing root and leaf vegetables, fruit and some herbs. We occasionally enjoyed a pot of beans from his garden. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Guerra Salazar; daughters, Beatriz Salazar and Amelia (Baltazar) Zavala; sons, Everardo (Elizabeth) Salazar Jr., Bacilio (Raquel) Salazar and Alexander Salazar all from Salinas; grandchildren, Benjamin Zavala, Avelina and Everardo III (EJ) Salazar and Angel Salazar; sister, Eladia Salazar and Guillermo Salazar both from Baja, CA and Alfredo (Martha) Salazar of San Jose along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Everardo is preceded in death by his parents, Basilio and Anastacia Salazar and his brother, Manuel Salazar. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 16, 2017 1-9pm at the Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral Services will take place on Friday, March 17, 2017 11am at the Apostolic Community Life Center 180 Williams Rd Salinas, CA 93905. Burial to follow services at the Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.
