Lynda Maguet
September 23rd, 1952 - June 4th, 2017
Lynda Maguet, age 64, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017 in Monterey, CA. She fought a brave battle against cancer and was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. Born Lynda Jean Etherington on September 23, 1952 to Lenox and Bonnie (Dresser) Etherington in Oceanside, California, she was the oldest of four children. Lynda enjoyed time with her family, friends and beloved pets. She would spend time gardening, enjoying the latest movies, eating out with friends, cooking, baking, shopping, and her true passion- traveling at home and abroad. Lynda’s life was work in the service of others, spending the last twenty years at the American Red Cross, beginning as a volunteer and retiring as the Director of Disaster Services. She has helped countless people in their most desperate moments. She will be missed by all who were touched by her devotion to helping those in need and desire to serve without hesitation. Answering the call to service ran throughout Lynda’s life. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Santa Lucia Chapter; the Rotary Club; and First Baptist Church to name a few. Lynda is survived by her husband Dennis Maguet; her daughters Lisa (Chris) Kaysinger and Kimberly (Robert) Cota; her grandchildren Matthew, Rashelle, Sammantha, Brandon and Justin; her siblings Jim (Jane) Etherington, Laura (Dave Pincus) Clark, and Pamela (Stan) Jones; as well as countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held July 1, 2017 at First Baptist Church, 1130 San Vincente Avenue, Salinas at 11 o’clock in the morning. Interment will follow on a later date at the California Central Coast Veterans Cemetery. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula for their dedicated care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Veterans Transition Center of Monterey County, www.vtcmonterey.org, 831-883-VETS. Winston Churchill said, “We make a living by what we get; we make a life by what we give.” Lynda gave us endless optimism, her sense of humor, her wonderful cooking, and her love of travel. We will miss all of her gifts.

We Entrusted Lynda Maguet's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
