Obituary Darrell Dean Haskins, 68, father of seven and friend to many, died peacefully on October 16, 2019 at his home in Fort Collins, Colorado. Darrell was born to Ben Fred Haskins and Nena Jewel Casper Haskins on July 18, 1951 in Hobart, Oklahoma. His early school years were spent in Cordell and Henryetta Oklahoma. He attended Moore High School, in Moore Oklahoma where many early mornings were spent in Future Farmers of America, raising prize-winning pigs. Darrell graduated from Moore High School in 1969. Darrell attended Oklahoma Central College in Edmond, Oklahoma. Later, he would graduate from real estate school, which set him on a path of impressive success. He built his own real estate business and helped many families in the Moore and Oklahoma City areas find and purchase their dream homes. In the early 1980s he branched out into commercial real estate. In 1987 Darrell relocated to Denton Texas where he became owner and CEO of Utility Consultants Inc. He loved Texas, didn't mind the heat and though he never caught the big fish he dreamed of, he enjoyed a good lake fishing trip. He also volunteered countless hours in several leadership positions for the Boy Scouts of America. Likely, his proudest scouting accomplishment was earning his Wood badge. Eight-year-old Darrell was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Halloween of 1959. Perhaps that's why he always said Halloween was his favorite holiday. At the age of 19 he served a two-year mission for the church in Idaho and Oregon and was instrumental in bringing a large number of people to the waters of baptism. He remained an active member his entire life and served in several bishoprics and as a high counselor. Most recently he enjoyed serving in the Fort Collins, Colorado Temple. Those who knew Darrell Haskins best will recall his generous heart, and the way his eyes could well up at a tender or sentimental moment. They will most assuredly remember his unique and ready laugh, recognizable across a crowded room. He loved to make fun happen. Whether it was swimming, camping, movies, vacations, or holidays, he wanted his family to have a good time and create memories. Darrell is survived by his sisters, Anita Lindsay, Barbara McBride, Vicki Phelps, Diana Loveless, his children, Douglas Haskins, Jennifer Patrick, Brittany Kilpatrick, Benjamin Haskins, Nathan Haskins, Jonathan Haskins, Brian Haskins and thirteen beloved grandchildren. A memorial in his honor will be held at 10:00 am. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1506 W. Imhoff Road, Norman, OK.
