William L (Pete) Hoffman was born August 15, 1918 in Loving, Texas to William (Pa Bill) Hoffman and Lena Bell Peters. A beloved Husband, Father of 3; Linda Payne (Charles), Danny Hoffman (Lynn) and Patricia Silvene (Dan), grandfather of 11, great grandfather of 17 and great-great grandfather of 1; he died on December 22, 2017. He married his sweetheart, Dorothy Pattison, on March 31, 1946 in Odessa Texas (and would have celebrated 71 years of marriage in March 2017). After living on an oil lease in Texas and having two children, they moved to Pacific Grove, CA and built a house, put down roots, had their third child, and they stayed in California ever since. Pete worked for over 50 years at Hayward Lumber Company. He was a loyal, faithful , hardworking employee. Sometimes working two jobs and doing yard work for the neighbors. Pete was a wonderful husband, father and provider for his family, very involved in his church teaching children and youth. He loved to sing and tell jokes or play with his kids, and he loved to watch the westerns on TV. At 99 years of age he went to be with his Lord Jesus and his sweetheart Dorothy. He will be missed by all who knew him. Graveside Service 1pm, El Carmelo Cemetery, Pacific Grove (Lighthouse & Asilomar Ave.) Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at 1pm Memorial Services with Military Honors will be held at Peninsula Christian Center, 520 Pine Avenue, Pacific Grove..

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
