David Anthony Hoskins

Obituary David Anthony Hoskins, beloved brother, peacefully passed away on the evening of July 25, 2019 at Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula surrounded by the love of his family. David was born in Clay County Kentucky to Lawrence Hoskins and Ruth Clark Hoskins. He lived throughout the United States and Germany and upon graduating from high school served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. While serving with the 101st Airborne Division David was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for Meritorious Achievement in Ground Operations. Upon return from his military service, David received his B.A. in Theater Arts from California State University, San Francisco. David acted extensively in various theater groups in San Francisco, Monterey and Carmel. He went on to do theatre ,opera, small parts in films and television in Hollywood. He began his training in classical ballet and modern jazz in San Francisco and with the Los Angeles Ballet Foundation. Upon returning to Monterey he continued his training in ballet with Madame Kira Ivanovsky, his beloved teacher and life-long friend. David was the long-standing Principal Dancer with Ballet Fantasque. From a very early age, David experienced the world as his stage and often referred to it as “Real Live Drama”. David was a master of many dialects which enhanced his performances and lead to his becoming a successful actor, especially in Shakespearean theater. He was also a very successful athlete participating in high school football, swimming, diving and gymnastics. He mastered Gung-fu-White Crane Yoga and was a devoted student of Buddhism. David was loved by his family. His love and empathy for children and animals was evidenced by how they flocked towards him. David is survived by his siblings: Michael Hoskins (Barbara Peerless) of Ormond Beach, FL, Robin Hoskins of Monterey, CA., Elizabeth Hoskins-Magee (Greg Magee) of Monterey, CA., Christine Hoskins-Sinatra ( Phil Sinatra) of San Diego, CA., Jonathan Hoskins (Brittney Van Dueck) and his niece Nevaeh Hoskins, Nephews Ronan Hoskins and Max Magee. David will forever be in our hearts.
