Paula Villasenor

Paula Camacho Villasenor, age 85, of Soledad, California, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2017. Paula was born June 29, 1932, in El Centro, California. She grew up in Calexico, California, with her two sisters and ten brothers. Paula married the love of her life, Joaquin Villasenor, in 1963. They moved to Soledad 60 years ago and created a life for themselves. Together, they raised three boys. Joaquin (Stella) Villasenor of Calexico, Alberto (Christine) Villasenor of Soledad, and Jesse (Satrina) Villasenor of Big Sur. Paula was a hard worker, employed for 18 years at Fresh Express, however, Paula’s best work was raising her family in their Soledad home. Paula’s door was always open, and she welcomed all who entered her home with a smile, a hug, and an open heart. Paula gave so much, while asking for little in return. Paula loved gatherings, rich with family and friends, during holidays, visit with her sisters in Calexico and casino trips. Her family and friends anxiously waited for her annual Christmas tamales and empanadas. Paula (Nana, Na) loved being surrounded by her grandchildren, Joaquin IV, Cecilia, Jonathan, Jasmine, Alberto Jr., Abel and Ryan. Paula always made sure she had dollar bills on hand for the grandchildren to purchase snacks. Paula was always available to listen, laugh, and visit with her grandchildren. Paula lived a beautiful, simple life. Her love was abundant, gracious and sincere. Paula is preceded in death by her mother, Jesus Armenta Camacho. Her father, Alberto Camacho, and her husband, Joaquin V. Villasenor. All who will reunite in heaven. She is survived by her three sons, three daughters-in-law, and seven grandchildren. Paula is also survived by her two sisters, Cruz Nunez and Cecelia Camacho who were known as the inseparable “Golden Girls”. Rosary vigil will be held on Monday, Jan. 8, 2018 7pm at the Our Lady of Solitude Church 235 Main St. Soledad, CA 93960. Funeral Mass to take place on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 10am at the Church. Burial to follow services at the Soledad District Cemetery 1711 Metz Rd Soledad, CA 93960.
