Ernesto Vasquez
September 26th, 1935 - May 28th, 2018
Ernesto S. Vasquez, 82, of Castroville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Ernesto was born on September 26, 1935 in Sinaloa, Mexico. He lived in Castroville for 59 years and was very involved in the community. He was a previous member of the Guadalupana Society and San Pablo de Colores in Watsonville. Ernesto retired from the North Monterey County School District after more than 25 years as head custodian at NMCMS. He was an avid Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's fan. He loved and enjoyed family BBQ's, camping with family and friends, listening to music, dancing and going for long daily walks and working in his yard and home. Ernesto is survived by his children; Peter (Gloria) Perez Max (Josie) Perez Ralph (Elaine)Perez Gene (Gloria) Rojas Ernie Vasquez Nancy Vasquez 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild also survive along with sister, Gloria Molina and brothers Manuel Vasquez, Carlos Molina and Raymond Sandoval Ernesto was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years, Angelina Jimenez Vasquez, son Robert "Bobby" Perez, father, Pablo Sandoval and mother, Faustina Sandoval and sister, Teresa Valdez. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 3, 2018 1-5pm with a Rosary vigil at 6 pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, June 4, 2018 11am at the Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church 11140 Preston St. Castroville, CA 95012. Burial to follow services at the Castroville District Cemetery 8442 Moss Landing Rd Moss Landing, CA 95039.

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
