Steven Carter Kaufman
November 19th, 1966 - July 1st, 2015
Steven Carter Kaufman, 48, of Plumas Lake, CA, passed away on July 1, 2015 at UC Davis. Steven was born on November 19, 1966 in Stevensville Maryland to John Albert and Mary Victoria Kaufman. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and began a 23 year career. He earned many distinguished metals, awards, and honors during his distinguished career. He served his country proudly at each duty station and was able to visit numerous places throughout his career, retiring in 2006 as a Senior Master Sargent. Never an idle man, he became the Environmental, health, and safety manager for a large company in Fairfield, where he worked until his passing. Steven's first AF duty station was Beale A.F.B. While stationed at Beale he met and married Cynthia Ann Hollcroft in 1987. They raised 2 sons and traveled throughout the U.S and abroad before retiring and making their home in Plumas Lake.Steven was a loving, kind, caring, and giving man. He gave to numerous charities, organizations, family, friends and complete strangers. Not only giving money but donating his time whenever he could to help those who needed him. He was a selfless man who always put others above himself. He would make others laugh at his unusual sayings or his made up raps. Our house was always the "hang out" house because he never met a stranger and treated everyone as family, young and old. Steven will be deeply missed by his entire family as well as his UTC family in Fairfield. Steven was preceded in death by both of his parents, and his in-laws. He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Cynthia Ann Kaufman, his beloved sons Jeremy Carter Kaufman and Shawn Joseph Pelfrey, granddaughter Cadence Pelfrey, grandson Landon Pelfrey, sisters Patti Steiner and Tammy Larrimore, brothers Johnnie, Marion, Brian and Gary Kaufman all of Maryland. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Memorial services will be conducted Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 10:00 am at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Military Honors, Beale AFB Honor Guard.
