Richard F. Taresh
August 30th, 1922 - December 28th, 2013
Richard F. Taresh of Rio Oso, California passed away on December 28, 2013. Richard was born in Rio Oso on August 30, 1922 to John and Vera Taresh at the family home. Richard attended Brown's Elementary School, East Nicolaus High School and Cal Poly, San Louis Obispo, California. He joined the Army Aircorp in 1943 and served until the end of WWII in 1945. He flew a C-47 Transport Plane carrying paratroopers, towing gliders and hauling supplies for the European Theatre. Richard met his future wife, Maxine McCormack at a USO dance in Ellensburg, Washington while in the service. After the service Richard returned to Rio Oso to resume farming and married Maxine. Richard farmed primarily peaches, prunes, walnuts and rice. Richard was also a member of the Reclamation Board for District 1001, the local Farm Bureau Board and was a Mason. He was active in the Community and enjoyed photography, belonging to the Hub Camera Club and the Gold Rush Camera Club for many years. He also served a term as president of the Hub Camera Club. Richard and Maxine liked to travel when they had the opportunity and enjoyed family and community functions when they were home in Rio Oso. He was preceded in death by his parents, John & Vera Taresh; brother, James; & sister, Vera; and his wife, Maxine. He is survived by his sister, Catherine; two children, John R. Taresh who lives on the family farm, and Maxine Borow and her husband, Jim, of Auburn, CA. A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:00am. A reception will follow after the service at the Rio Oso Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Rio Oso Community Hall or a local organization of choice.
