James "Jim" "Coop" Cooper
July 26th, 1933 - September 19th, 2018
Obituary James "Coop" Walter Cooper, 85, of Fort Collins passed away in his sleep September 19th. Coop was a proud native of Fort Collins having been adopted by Walter and Martha Cooper as a baby in 1933. He attended Washington Elementary, Lincoln Junior High and was a 1951 graduate of Fort Collins High School. As a young adult he attended University of Denver and served in the Army, stationed in Monterey, CA. He later worked in the auto industry, as a Realtor and real estate investor, and served as Exalted Ruler of BPOE Elks #804. Coop was passionate about the service to community through the Elk's Lodge. A lifetime of amazing experiences made him a good advisor to his children. Coop was never afraid to tell you what he thought, and if he cared about you it was genuine and unconditional. He was most importantly - a loving and proud Dad, a beloved Granpa, loyal Friend loved and held in high regard by more than even his family knew. Dad never did anything he didn't really want to do which gives us peace knowing he was ready to move to his next adventure. He is survived by two children: Mark Cooper of Fort Collins and Kristin Cooper Wossilek of Highlands Ranch, CO; Six grandchildren: James Arthur Jac' Cooper of Oswego, Illinois; Jennifer (Cooper) Malone of Pataskala, OH; Samantha Cooper of Carlsbad, CA; Rand, Teia, and Trent Wossilek of Highlands Ranch, CO. One great-grandchild, Emma Rose Cooper; Sister, Ann Thomas of Fort Collins. He is preceded in death by his oldest son, Arthur Cooper, and his parents Walter B. and Martha Cooper. Coop always loved a gathering of family and friends. So in celebration of his life well lived, Coop would like to buy his friends a drink and share some of his favorite things at his favorite place. Please join us this Saturday, September 29th from 1-3 pm, Elk's Lodge 804, 1424 E Mulberry St, Fort Collins, CO.
