LeRoy George Hickman

Obituary Roy Hickman lived in Mankato, Minnesota during his childhood and early years. After graduation from Loyola High School in 1950, he served in the United States Army until 1953. He then attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated in 1956 with a BS degree in Chemistry and started work as a chemist with Dow Corning then worked at General Mills in Minneapolis. He left General Mills to work as a District Sales Manager of Varian Associates Instrument Division in Palo Alto, CA until his retirement. Roy loved jazz music and played clarinet in the Army band and then later with the local Elks Club band, he also enjoyed playing the piano. He continued to enjoy jazz and big band music his entire life. His other passions included business, stocks, investing, and the 49’ers. He married Leola in 1955 in Mankato then moved to Midland MI. They moved back to Minneapolis until moving to California in 1963. They lived in the Bay Area until 1989 when he retired and they moved to Monterey, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Katherine Hickman. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Leola Hickman and their five children, Lisa Hickman, Michael Hickman, Lori Farrer, Diane Hickman and David Hickman. He is also survived by his granddaughters Maggie, Christine, Megan, Leanne, Jamilah, Scarlett and great-grandchildren Eric and Casey.
