Jeanne Cave
May 7th, 1933 - March 24th, 2014
Jeanne Cave left us on March 24th after 80 years of a richly lived life. She was predeceased by her parents Dr. Dave and Dorothy Dozier, her older brother Dr. William Dozier, and her husband, Jessie Cave. She is survived by her sons Ivan Frost of Colusa, and RobRoy McDonell and wife Tessie, of Union City, her grandchildren, Myles McDonell, Sarah McDonell, great-grandchild Elijah, granddaughter Misty Nelson, as well as twin-siblings, Dr. David Dozier, Jr. of Sacramento, and Dotty Dixon of Davis. Jeanne had a variety of remarkable roles during her life: as a Stanford graduate in Social Services, Sacramento's second ever police woman, and various jobs before her final resting place as manager of the Pioneer Duck Club in Colusa. The Clubhouse and duck-blinds were favorite hunting spots, begun by her husband Jessie years earlier. Jeanne's father hunted at the club and introduced Jeanne to Jessie, which started their long-term relationship and her love of the land. Jeanne loved all manner of music and often had a record playing or radio on throughout the day. She also loved the foibles of human behavior, often clipping articles to send to family and friends accompanied by encirclements, arrows, and side notes, usually in improvised envelopes and posted with a variety of colorful stamps. Jeanne was an avid reader and friend of the library, often there to research an issue, or lyrics to a song, to make copies of articles, or check out books, or CDs to take to a friend with low-vision, or to read to another homebound friend. Jeanne avoided new-fangled technology, but kept in touch by frequent letters and phone calls, never wanting to impose on another's time, she might state her purpose and sign off abruptly, but cheerfully; and with a letter, that is how she has left us now. Farewell, sweet sister, mother, and grandmother. May flocks of wildfowl guide you on your flight. A private family gathering will be held in lieu of a public service, per Jeanne's wishes.
