A Graveside Service for Willard Stull, 76 of Chico, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Gridley Cemetery. Willard passed away on June 30, 2011. He was born on May 3, 1935 in Gridley, CA to Fred and Elnora Stull. Will was raised in Gridley, where he attended and played three years of football as a defensive linebacker at Gridley High School. Upon graduating from Gridley High School in 1953, he entered the Marine Corp and served 21 years, rising from Private to Captain. During his career in the Marine Corp, he played and coached football and baseball. He later played a little golf. As a Mustang Officer among his many commendations, was the Bronze Star and Purple Heart for service in Vietnam. Will is an alumnus of Butte College, receiving his Associates of Arts Degree in 1975. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Education and a Master's Degree in Fine Arts from CSUC, Chico. Will was a member of many professional organizations, both on and off campus. As a member of the Butte College Century Club, he supported both staff and athletes through the years. During the past years, he had served on many academic committees and has been a mentor for many students, including student athletes. He has taught educational survival both on and off the field. Will has had the honor of being selected Outstanding Faculty of the Year in 1997. In 1996 and 2000, Will was honored in Who's Who Among America's teachers. The latter award was given to Will by student's who said he made a difference. (Will cherishes this award most). He met and has been married to his high school sweetheart Arline for 54 years. Will enjoyed fishing and restoring Model "A" Ford Cars. Will is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Joline Stull Atkinson. He is survived by his wife, Arline Stull; children, Sheryl (Bruce) McMorrow, Kim (Steve) Ray, Steven (Karen) Stull Sr.; grandchildren, Jason Sisney, Steven Stull Jr., Michelle Sisney Curtin, and her children, Jaden and Ethan Curtin of Missourri and grandson's, Tim and Matt Ray; two nieces, Laurie Atkinson and Lynn Ann Cox. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. at Brusie Funeral Home. A Celebration of Will's Life will be held on Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 12-4 p.m. at the Eagle's Hall on the corner of 20th Street and Mulberry in Chico. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warriors or a favorite charity. Arrangements are under the direction of Brusie Funeral Home.
