John Sears

A Visitation will be held Sunday, January 22, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. in the Chapel of the Brusie Funeral Home, followed by a Graveside Service on Monday, January 23, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Durham Cemetery, for John Grey Sears. John went to dwell in the house of the Lord on January 15, 2012, after a short battle with Cancer. He was attended by his two sons, Dustin Sears and J.R. Bechhold, and friends and family. John was born in 1941 to Jesse Cole and Ross Norman Sears of Durham. He graduated in 1969 and completed his B.S. degree in engineering at C.S.U.C. He was an officer in the U.S. Air Force, and retired a Lt. Col. from the Air Force Reserve. He was also a long time business owner in Chico of Applied Testing Consultants, North Regions Construction, and Moores Awards. In addition, he also worked for the California Department of Transportation as a Civil Engineer, and retired from them in 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marci Chacon Sears; his brother, Stan Sears, and his parents, Jesse and Ross Sears. He is survived by his son, Dustin Sears; stepson, J.R. Bechhold, and a cousin, Rex Sears of Salt Lake City, Utah, and an aunt, Mary Olsen of Redding, CA. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
