Paul served in the U.S. Army He was a member of American Legion Post #31 in Salinas and of American Rabbit Breeder's Association. Following Paul's retirement, he worked as a driver for Hertz Rent-a-Car at the Monterey Airport. Paul enjoyed outdoor activities, which included hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed tinkering with his classic cars. Paul especially loved showing and raising championship rabbits across the country. He was an avid St. Louis Rams fan and boxing enthusiast. He loved to travel to the casinos. Paul will be remembered for his Thanksgiving dinner rolls. He is survived by wife of 39 years Rosmary Y. Fickas of the family home in Salinas sons Paul (Sylvia) Fickas, Jr. of Sacramento John A. (Brandee) Fickas of Salinas sister Nancy Smith of Hollister brother Mark Fickas of Los Angeles sister-in-law Delia Ybarra of Salinas grandchildren John A. Fickas, Jr. & Brittany N. Fickas along with numerous nieces and nephews

Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
