Merle Gene Weber
September 23rd, 1925 - December 14th, 2016
Merle Gene Weber of Yuba City, CA, passed away December 14, 2016. Born September 23, 1925 in Yuba City, CA, he was the owner of Merle Weber Transportation. He was a resident of the area for 91 years. When Merle was 18, he enlisted in the Navy. He served for 3 years during World War II aboard the USS Thetis Bay. Merle owned his own trucking business for more than 50 years. He hauled rice, peaches and fertilizer. Later, he increased the number of trucks and started Merle Weber Transportation Inc. Cement. He was most noted as the only bulk cement transportation business in the Yuba City and Redding area for many years. After he sold his business and retired he continued to drive truck. He hauled rice to the Sacramento shipyards for Siller Brothers to the age of 89. Merle was preceded in death by his parents, Karl A. Weber and Ada R. Weber (Lueth); brother, Donald Weber; spouse, Donna J. Weber and longtime companion, Patricia Dover. He is survived by his daughter, Colleen and Thomas Holt of Weatherford, Texas; a son, Merle G. and Theresa Weber of Sutter, CA; grandsons, Brian Holt of Weatherford, Texas and William Richard Thompson of Chico, CA. Additional survivors include one brother, Karl A. Weber of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Marilyn Huggins of West Covina, CA and Carolyn Childers of Yuba City, CA; Margaret Ann Weber of Weatherford, TX, Delores Dybevik and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Yuba City. Visitation will be held at 10:30 a.m., December 20, 2016 at Ullrey Memorial Chapel. Memorial services will immediately follow at 11:30 am. Burial will be private at Fairview Cemetery in Rio Oso, CA. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society , 1007 Live Oak Blvd, Suite A2, Yuba City, CA 95991.
