Douglas Holley
August 30th, 1968 - October 27th, 2017
Douglas Charles Holley, 49, passed away on, Friday, October 27, 2017 with his beloved wife and mother by his side after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Santa Cruz, CA and was raised in the Bay Area. Doug was a collegiate wrestler who attended Cal State Bakersfield and graduated from San Jose State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. Doug was a Detective Sergeant and SWAT team leader with the Stockton Police Department for over 18 years. His most important goals were a successful mission and getting every last officer home safe to their families. After his youngest son graduated high-school, he relocated with his bride Terri to the coast where they had married years before. He immediately started working for Monterey Police Department, and was quickly promoted to Sergeant. Doug lived as an example to many, he watched over the flock, and raised other warriors to be the Sheepdogs they were meant to be. Doug was an avid outdoorsman, this passion was shared with his Dad, family and many friends. He took pride in raising dogs for bird hunting and every chance he got headed up to his beloved Sierras to hunt for deer. His love of adventure had no bounds. Those adventures included camping with the family, S.W.A.T. competitions with ‘the boys’, a Spartan race or even the Eco Challenge which took many days to complete. He always excelled at anything he set out to accomplish. Doug reflected many times, with the exception of having his sons Chad and Jake, the best single day of his life was the day he made SWAT and also met the love of his life Terri. Douglas is survived by his beloved wife Terri and sons Chad (Mari) Holley, and Jacob, his mother Darcy Holley, father Daniel (Kathleen) Holley, his brother David, his sister Jessica and two grandchildren Alex and Mamie Grace. A Celebration of Life will take place Friday, November 3, 2017 at 10:30am, 2500 Garden Road, Monterey CA. A reception will follow at the Elks Lodge 150 Mar Vista Drive, Monterey, CA. Burial will take place at the Monterey City Cemetery. Doug and Terri would like to thank Dr. M. Zach Koontz, Dharma Naidu, PharmD and the many dedicated nurses at Pacific Cancer Care, as well as Rn Desiree from VNA Monterey for all their heartfelt loving care. Service Information
