Billie M. Field

Billie M. Field, a long-time resident of Monterey, California, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2017 at Pacific Grove Convalescent Hospital. Miss Field was a graduate of UC Berkeley, where she studied Art History. She worked for many years as a circuit teacher of children who were being home-schooled. She most recently worked for seventeen years as a library assistant at the Seaside branch of the Monterey County Free Libraries. Billie lived a responsible, uncomplicated life wherein she valued education, personal liberty, and support of disadvantaged populations. In her lifetime, she was an avid reader of fantasy and science fiction. Billie had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor, and she especially enjoyed the drolleries of New Yorker drawings and cartoons. Miss Field is survived by her kind and dedicated friend, Laurie Bulgier, and a niece, Selina Delafield. She was predeceased by her father, Philip Field, and her mother, Marie Hagen Field. During her illness, Billie was grateful for the loving care provided by Laurie Bulgier, Shirley Kiatta RN, Dr. Susan Kubica, and the nursing staff at Pacific Grove Convalescent Hospital. In keeping with Billie’s wishes, there will be no services.
