Yvonne C. Johnson

Yvonne C Johnson, 77, of Long Beach, MS passed away peacefully with her family at her side in her home in Monterey, CA on August 21, 2017. Yvonne was born May 14, 1940 in St. Andrew, Jamaica, British West Indies. As a child, she grew up in Jamaica, Costa Rica and British Columbia, Canada. She spent the majority of her life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and more recently relocated to Monterey, CA. Yvonne was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her zest for life was infectious. She never met a stranger; and had an incredible ability to make everyone she met recognize how uniquely special they truly are to the world. Nurturing the world was her gift; and she spent many years with students at W. J. Quarles Elementary in Long Beach, Mississippi. This southern belle had a knack for fashion and passion for animals, which she shared with her late daughter Teri Johnson Ebrite. She also enjoyed languages and trivia. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Johnson and her spouse Terrilyn of Monterey, CA, her grandchildren Jeffrey Graham, David (Casey) Solomon and Rebecca (Aaron) Jordan, four great grandchildren Ellie, Avelyn, Ruby and Gavin, her sister, Gretchen (Cesar) Cahusac de Moran of Lima, Peru, eight nieces and nephews and their families. The family appreciates the care and compassion of the staff members and physicians of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula as well as Hospice of the Central Coast who all provided a smooth transition for Yvonne and her loved ones.
