September 14, 1920 - August 30, 2016 Sue Barber passed away peacefully in her home August 30, 2016 with her daughters at her side. She had lived in Yuba City for the past 20 years, previously having lived in El Paso, TX and El Reno, OK. She was born in Paris, TX, but raised in El Paso graduating from Loretto Academy in 1938. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to El Reno where he worked for the federal reformatory and where they lived for 20 years. He was transferred to the El Paso area where she lived until moving to Yuba City. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Sexton (Michael) of Yuba City and Judy Waldrop of Burnet, TX, seven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and her very good friends Leta Buckner, Charlene Marquez, Annemarie Nealon and Kathy Bishop. Her daughters will be eternally grateful for the love and the gift of time they shared with her. Her husband of 54 years, James D. Barber and her son-in-law, John Waldrop, preceded her in death. While living in Yuba City she was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and Beta Sigma Phi (50+ year member), Delta Alpha Master chapter. She was a long-time volunteer with The Discovery Shop and Christian Assistance Network (CAN). A Rosary will be held at Ullrey Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Isidore Catholic Church on Thursday, September 8 at 11:00 A.M. Celebrants will be Fr. Fernando Meza and Deacon Eldon Vignery. Burial will be in El Paso at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery on September 12, 2016 In lieu of flowers a donation to St. Isidore Catholic Church, 222 Clark Ave., Yuba City 95991 or CAN, 232 Teegarden Ave., YC 95991 or a charity of choice is recommended.
