Troy Lee White, 75, of Yuba City, California, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones in his home on April 17th, 2017. Troy was born in Oklahoma on December 13th, 1941, to Benjamin Lee White and Ruby Ella (Plumley) White. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and served honorably in the United States Army before becoming a police lieutenant for the Department of Defense. A mountain man if ever there was one, Troy spent his years seeking out the best hunting, fishing, and adventuring he could find. He raised his family in the Sierra Nevadas, and then traveled up and down the coast fishing. His lifelong friends and experiences in the fishing village of La Bocana in Baja California Sur, Mexico were always close to his heart. Troy would want it known that he caught many huge fish and once saw a sea serpent of mythical proportions while deep sea fishing. Seriously, it was monstrous. Troy will be remembered as a rugged and ornery mountaineer with a good heart and a clever sarcastic wit. Those around him were privy to an endless supply of true stories (and tall tales) collected throughout his many years of wandering the deserts in search of Native American artifacts and cave paintings. He built an extensive collection of arrowheads, mortars, pestles and woven baskets. Troy's toothy grin full of mischief will never be forgotten. His children and grandchildren will remember how he taught them the value of solid eye contact, a firm handshake, and a bear hug. Troy was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, David White of Susanville and Janie Walker of Chico. His memory will live on through many, including his children: Arthur Braden of Auburn, Marcie Sugden of Stockton, Ella Rebecca Reed of Reno, Benjamin Lee White of Susanville, Margaret White of Yuba City, and Robert Loftis Jr of Yuba City, his grandchildren: Kris Sugden of Orlando, Tabitha Haworth of Wheatland, Steven Homann of Wheatland, Yessica Cervantes of Chico, Zachary Braden of Redding, Anthony Lupica of Reno, Joseph Lupica of Reno, Sarah White of Southern Calif., Page White of Southern Calif., Emma Loftis of Yuba City, Grace Loftis of Yuba City, Liam Pio of Yuba City and Hazel Pio of Yuba City, and his many, many great grandchildren, who will grow up hearing legendary tales.
