March 20, 1925 - August 24, 2017 Vina Griffin Lee, 92, passed away at home on August 24, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. A Yuba-Sutter resident for 74 years, she was the youngest of 9 children born to Sisco and Birdie Griffin in Searcy County, Arkansas. When she was 16 months old, her family moved to Checotah, Oklahoma, where she lived until the age of 18. She then moved with her mother and father to Sutter, California, where she met and married her husband of 60 years, Charles Lee. Together they worked hard to raise five children on a shoestring budget. While she was a homemaker, she also worked seasonal work picking up walnuts in Meridian and hoeing beans. She loved gardening and always had a very large garden full of everything from avocados to zucchini. She was a very frugal person and canned fruit and vegetables for the winter months and made her own jams and jellies. She managed to continue her hobby of gardening and taking care of her
