Marian Lynch McNellis
July 30th, 1919 - February 1st, 2017
Obituary Marian Lynch McNellis, 97, of Ft. Collins, Colorado died Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Live to Assist with caregivers who loved her. Born July 30, 1919, in Belmont, Massachusetts she was the daughter of the late Frank A. and Mary (Conway) Lynch. She attended Boston University, and then secretarial school. She married John A. McNellis on May 8, 1949, in Jacksonville, FL and they moved to Gainesville FL (Go Gators!). Marian loved volunteering, first for the Red Cross during World War II, being a pink lady at Alachua General Hospital, room parent for her children's classrooms, Cub Scout leader, and Girl Scout leader. She was also active in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She was a member of St. Margaret's Circle, the Altar Guild, the Holy Folders, and taught Sunday School when her children were young. In 1964, Marian went to work at the University of Florida. She became the Administrative Assistant to the Dean of Graduate School in the College of Education. She enjoyed helping the students and loved that special connection. Marian was preceded in death by her husband, her sister Louise, her son Michael and her grandson Niall. She is survived by two children, Bob McNellis (Jenny) of Philadelphia, Kathleen Edmiston (Doug) of Ft. Collins, 8 grandchildren, Byrony Krauss (Carl), Lindsey McNellis (Mathew Trent), Erin Nuland (Aaron), Patrick Edmiston, Caitlin McMahon (Chris), Molloy McNellis, Aidan McNellis, Delaine McNellis; three great-grandsons (Asher, Amos, and Jude Nuland), and one sister, Eleanor Johnson of Jacksonville, Florida. Marian enjoyed music, travel, and history and was a voracious reader. She was devoted to her family and had many adventures with her grandchildren as they grew up, including, Mesa Verde, Yellowstone, the Badlands, Charleston, Disney World, and Italy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Naomi's Kitchen, at St. Peter's Anglican Church. Funeral Service at Windsong Estates in Windsor on Friday, February 10, at 10:00. Internment at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Gainesville, Florida in July.
