A Memorial Mass will be held for Nick Girimonte, 94, of Chico, on Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. A reception will follow at the Springfield Manor Clubhouse, 2050 Springfield Dr. Nick passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012. He was born March 17, 1918 to Italian immigrants, Joseph and Matilde Girimonte in Weed, CA. Nick attended University of San Francisco and Munson's Business School. He worked for Bank of America as a teller for six years before becoming a wholesale liquor salesman in the Bay Area. In 1943, he married Vincie DeBiasi in Oakland, CA. They moved to Chico in 1951, where he owned and operated Nick's Liquor Store for 20 years. For 10 years he worked for Musco Olive Co. Nick was a 25 year member of and Past President of the Chico Lions Club, Past President of El Rancho Chico Golf Club, former chairman of Chico Airport Commission and 50 year member of the Chico Elks Club. His survivors include two daughters, Nicki (Gene) Centeno and Judy Girimonte; daughter-in-law, Susan Girimonte; two sons, Gene (Art Curtis), and David (Lori) Girimonte; one sister, Katherine Gainey; twelve grandchildren, Christina, Rodney, Joe, Alicia, Tim, Matthew, Joel, Nick, Tyler, Vince, Kyle and Tony; eleven great-grandchildren, Leonardo, James, Vincent, Rio, Aviana, Nicholas, Julianne, Mia, Mitchell, Henry and Iris. Nick was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Vincie; eldest son, Joe Girimonte; and sister, Mary Capps. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice, in care of the Brusie Funeral Home.
