Curtis Luker
July 23rd, 1928
Curtis "Red" Luker, 82, passed into the loving arms of the Lord on July 2, 2011 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born July 23, 1928 in North McAlester, OK and moved to Monterey County in 1945. He met his wife to be in 1946 and he and Ernestine were married in 1949. Curtis was a concrete contractor in Salinas for 35 years. He spent many years as a member of the Salinas Valley Boat Club and the Salinas Dune Buggy Club. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, his greatest joys were his family and friends. His later years were devoted to his love for his horses and his love for his family. - "We Love you, Daddy" Curtis is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ernestine, his daughters, Debbie Hill, Rita (David) Brown, and Sharon Long. He also leaves his grandchildren, Amber, Nicole, Michelle, Kevin, and Joe, along with 11 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 3 sisters. Visitation will be held at the Healey Mortuary on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 from 1-9 PM 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. Funeral Services will take place on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at 2PM at the Healey Mortuary Chapel. Following services, entombment will be held in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery 18200 Damian Way Salinas, CA 93907. Contributions in his memory can be made to VNA Hospice, 6 Quail Run Circle, Salinas, CA 93907.

He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
