Henry "Chayo" Cortez, 64, native of Salinas, passed away on September 30, 2011 in Salinas. He was born on September 15, 1947. Henry previously worked as a local grocery clerk for over 20 years. He is survived by his daughters Angela Annette Andrea Alexis and Andrina Cortez sons, Henry, Jr. Manuel Michael and Isaac Cortez step-father, James Sanchez, Sr. sisters, Betty Chacon and Irene Hernandez brothers, Roy and Frank Sanchez 24 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives He is preceded in death by his mother, Bellia Sanchez 4 brothers, 2 sisters and one nephew Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2011 1-9pm with a Rosary Recital at 7pm all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, October 10, 2011 10am at Sacred Heart Catholic Church 22 Stone St. Salinas, CA 93901. Burial to follow services at Garden of Memories Cemetery 850 Abbott St. Salinas, CA 93901.

He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
