Jean Louise Roman
June 9th, 1932 - April 19th, 2018
Jean Louise Roman (Benner) passed away peacefully on April 19, 2018 at the age of 85. Always the life of the party with a vivacious spirit, Jean led a passionate and generous life, full of love, family, friendship, and adventure. Born June 9, 1932 in Ontario, CA, Jean moved to San Diego where she started a family and raised her three children. Working her way through various culinary positions throughout schools in San Diego, she eventually became catering Manager for the University of California, San Diego where she ultimately retired in 1992. During this time, she also began her life-long hobby of doll making, entering and winning various competitions with her beautiful creations. After retirement Jean relocated to Challenge, CA, where she became the Events Manager for the Brownsville Community Center, hosting various gatherings including Thanksgiving dinner for community members without family, Easter Brunch, and the Annual Crab Feed. She also volunteered at the Cal-Fire Thrift store. Jean later relocated to Yuba City where she became an active member of the Moose Lodge and the Franklin Dance Club, spending her days dining with friends, dancing, socializing, and volunteering for numerous charity events. There was never an idle day in Jean's life. She traveled extensively with family, visiting almost every continent. Her last adventure was to Australia where, at 84, she climbed the Sydney Bridge. When not traveling, she spent her free time dancing or working on one of her many hobbies. Jean is preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Anna Roman, brother Jerry Roman, and son Nicholas White. Loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Jean is survived by her sisters Janet Reed and Darlene McFadden, son Daryl White, daughters Christine Mineo, Cynthia Nix and Sharel White, grandchildren Amy Martin, Jericho Martin, Travis White, Trinety Murphy, Trisha Sabins, and Bryan White, and her 5 great grandchildren, Jackson, Syndey, Ava, Harper, and Sierra. A celebration of her life will be held on May 7, 2018 at the Ullrey Memorial Chapel in Yuba City at 11 AM. For information about the celebration, please contact Christine Mineo - (619) 871 - 8108.
