Robert Sharp

Chico lost a very special resident. He was often seen zooming around town in his electric wheelchair, always smiling and saying "hello" to everyone he met. Robert enjoyed volunteering as his way of giving back in spite of his cerebral palsy and mangled body. He rang Salvation Army Christmas bells, distributed Halloween candy for the Downtown Association, participated in Relay For Life, The Little Red Hen Project and Eureka's Special Olympics as well as many other local community charities. Robert was born in Brawley CA and moved to McKinleyville CA in 1966. He lost his father, Roy Sharp in 1993 and his mother, Mary Sharp in 1998. At that point, he moved to Chico because of the warmer weather and internet info about how well Chico treats it handicapped residents. Robert loved model trains, computers, and wheelchair dancing. He attended College of The Redwoods, Butte College, and Chico State University. As Robert's body got weaker and struggled with constant pain, he was forced to reduce his volunteering activities. But kept up his bright out look on life while smiling to the end. Robert leaves behind a sister, Johney Fay Sulser in San Jose CA and a brother, Roy Sharp, Jr in Quincy WA their spouses and many nieces and nephews, and their children. In lieu of flowers, send donations in care of the Brusie Funeral Home to ARK and the Salvation Army as their organizations help support those like him sustain their quality of life.
