MARGARET SUSAN RICHMOND A graveside service for Margaret Susan Richmond, 93, will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, February 17 at Glen Oaks Memorial Park in Chico, followed by a memorial luncheon at the Evangelical Free Church. She died on Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, CA. Margaret was born January 18, 1921, in Wilton Township, Minnesota to Arthur Charles Rogers and Ethel Myrtle Dohr Rogers, and moved with her family to Milltown, Montana, when she was 2 years old. Following her mother's death in 1927 the family returned to Minnesota where she was placed in Catholic schools and orphanages, and then in 1931 at Owatonna State School for Dependent Children until she went to live with her father and stepmother, Adeline Billard Rogers, in Waseca, Minnesota in 1935. She married David John Richmond in 1941 and they moved to Redding, CA where David worked on the construction of Shasta Dam, and where 2 daughters were born, Joan and Joyce. After relocating to Forward's Mill and later to Stirling City where David worked in the lumber industry, 3 more daughters were born into the family, Gail, Marilyn, and Karen. In 1956 the family moved to Chico. Margaret was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, David, her daughter, Karen Anderson, and her grand-daughter, Marie Denise Romero, and great-grand daughter Sarah Christine Rose. Survivors include; daughters Joan Gannon of Redding, Joyce Person of Red Bluff, Gail Albertson of Yuba City, and Marilyn Wallace (and husband Lyn) of Martinez; 16 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Evangelical Free Church benevolent fund. Arrangements are being made through Brusie Funeral Home of Chico.
