Francis John Lang
June 24th, 1920 - February 26th, 2011
Francis John Lang, 90, died on February 26, 2011 in Molalla, Oregon Francis was born in Boring, Oregon on June 24, 1920 to Michael and Helen Lang. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Sandy High School. On January 1942, he was drafted into the United States Army. During World War II, he served in Tunisia, North Africa and Later in Italy. He started out as a forward artillery observer and later transferred to be an aircraft mechanic since he had some mechanic’s training. After returning from the war, he worked and then entered college at University of Portland and graduated in 1952 as an accountant. He went to work for Crown Zellerbach and was thrilled he could dress in casual clothes and still be an accountant. He retired from Crown Z in 1981. He raised Christmas trees for many years on his farm outside of Molalla and continued to pursue his love of mechanics restoring numerous Cadillac’s over the years. After retirement he loved to travel and visited countries all over the world. On March 16, 1981 he married Elsie Wolf-Geist who preceded him in death in 2001. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Earl, Clarence Aloysius, and Richard Michael Land and his sisters, Mae Helen Walling, Catherine Elizabeth Lang, Teresa Lang, Evelyn Theresa Zalo, and Rose Agnes Johnson and his son, Brian Neal Lang. He is survived by his nephews, Terry, Richard, Chris, and James Lang and his nieces, Doris Pittsley, Denise Johnson, and Diane Telfer and 15 grand nieces and nephews and 12 great-grand nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are by Molalla Funeral Chapel. Services were held on Friday, March 4th at St. James Catholic Church, Father Ed Coleman officiated. Family is encouraged to provide an obituary or information that allows for an obituary to be written by our staff
