Ullrey Memorial Chapel
Kenneth Avin Hill
December 6th, 1956 - January 27th, 2019
Kenneth Avin Hill, of Yuba City, California. The rock of our family was called to Heaven peacefully, with his family by his side, on January 27, 2019, at the age of 62. Ken leaves behind his loving wife and soul mate, Judy; his daughters: Amy, Jami (Jason), Nicole (Steven); six grandchildren: Joshua, Joelle, Caitlyn, Bailey, Landen and Logan; and two life-long friends he calls his brothers: Jerry Hulsey and Gary Hulsey. Ken and Judy's love story began when they were 16 and in 1976, they were married. For 42 years they truly lived by the vows they took. Ken set a standard in his example to his daughters of how a man should treat his wife and in a loving way taught his daughters to expect nothing less from their husbands. He lived in a house full of women and managed it so well! Following in his Father's footsteps, Ken went to work in construction. Ken learned industry standards from Pavin' Avin and operating Ken's Backhoe Service for Teichert Construction before opening the doors to Hill & Hill Contracting in 1991. His business grew and made a solid and successful family business for over 20 years. Keeping with tradition, Ken kept his daughters involved learning the trade, teaching his girls the dedication it takes to build a successful business. Ken is a family man with a heart of gold, who believes families who play, together stay together. He often said "Work hard, play Hard." We spent our childhood summers with Dad towing us around the lake until we were sunburnt or he ran out of gas. During the winters we joined in the family caravan to dry camp in the sand dunes, until Mom said, "We are outta water!" Dad taught us an appreciation for early morning motorcycle rides and how to build a knee burner that would last all night. The guitars would come out after a long day of riding and Dad would sing to us all his favorite songs. Anyone who knew "KHill" would say….he's a hard-workin', fun-lovin', guitar playin' man with a heart of gold! You will be missed terribly. Dad, you have touched so many hearts, and have many life-long friends who speak of you with a big smile and a great story. Because WE are so blessed to have had YOU in our lives. We know you'll be busy building a home for us girls, and you'll be back to pick us up when it's our turn, so until we meet again! Please join us for services on Monday, February 4, 2019, at Noon at The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Butte House Road in Yuba City. Dedication of the Grave will follow at Sutter Cemetery, then a Celebration of Ken's Life will be held at NU Generation Lanes with refreshments.
