Michael "Mickey" D. Cranford, 78, native and lifelong resident of Salinas, came to rest on June 6, 2012, after a lengthy illness. He was born on December 17, 1933. He had proudly served in the U.S. Airforce. Upon leaving the service he got into the family fertilizer business H.G Cranford and Sons working with his father and brother Roy and later with his brother, Garth “Shorty”. Eventually his son, Lincoln,joined him in the fertilizer business and they worked the family business “Cranford Fertilizer”, until he retired in 2005. Mickey loved everything about computers and helped anyone who had trouble with theirs. He enjoyed playing video games with his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the piano. He loved traveling across the United States to see specific point of interest and charting it in detail on maps. He reconnected with his fellow tail gunners from his Air Force days visiting those still alive during several of his cross country travels, sharing pictures and good times while they were in the service together. He enjoyed taking pictures of outdoors while on his daily walks. He leaves behind his son, Lincoln (Kristi) Cranford of Arizona and grandchildren Nathan and Amanda Cranford Daughter Michelle Roland of Taylorsville and grandchildren Casey Roland and Morgen (Jonathan) Glines and four great grandchildren Nikolas, Jeremiah, Joshua, Kylie. Daughter Erin (Robert) Miller of Salinas and grandchildren Adam (Sarah) Miller and Kaela (Jon) Miller-Garcia Sisters, Mary (Cecil) Brophy of Salinas Loletta Marriott of Red Bluff and many cousins, nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his wife Grace, both parents Henry and Lois Cranford, his brothers Roland, Douglas, Garth, Roy and sister, Sylvia. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 11, 2012 1pm at the Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mickey’s memory to CurePSP 30 E. Padonia Road, Ste 201 Timonium, MD 21093 or online at psp.org.
