Mike Perez
December 23rd, 1933 - July 5th, 2012
A wonderful husband and an awesome dad went home to be with the Lord. Mike M. Perez, 78, of Salinas was born December 23, 1933 and passed away on July 5, 2012 at home with his family by his side. Mike, one of twelve children, was born to Jesus & Guadalupe Perez. He was born in Munford, Texas and moved to California when he was twelve years old. He started to work in construction when he was 18 years old and worked for Granite Construction for over 37 years. He prayed day and night for his family to know the Lord and prayed for friends that needed healing. He had many healing miracles throughout his life, one miracle was being taken off dialysis after being on it for ten months. He was a strong man and fought a good fight with cancer for two years and five months, but the cancer didn't win, he did, he is now in Heaven. Mike attended Victory Outreach Church with his wife, Frances and daughter, Theresa. He loved to go see his grandchildren play baseball, soccer, cheerleading, dance recitals, theater plays, enjoyed playing with all his grandbabies, and he loved to gamble. He was a Jack-of-all-Trades; he could fix anything that was broken. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy football fan and enjoyed watching the games on TV. Mike was loved by many and will be remembered for his jokes and love for family. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Frances Perez; children, Alfred (Gloria) Perez; Margarita Osuna; Michael (Azalea) Perez, Theresa Perez, & Jesse (Jackie) Perez; eleven grandchildren, Frances Shipnuck, Monica Hill, Laura Ott, Neena Thornton, Lisa, Yvette and Michael Osuna; Vincent, Natalie, Jesse and Rafael Perez; ten great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; three sisters, Viviana Perez, Tome Vasques and Connie Rodriquez all from San Jose, five brothers, Eusebio (Chevo) Perez from Salinas, Ralph Perez from Madera, Keno Perez from Yuma, AZ, Robert Perez from Soledad and Joe Perez from Reno, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Guadalupe; his son, Rafael Perez; granddaughter, Michelle Perez; great-grandson, Travis Osuna; brother, Frank Perez; sisters, Fernanda Perez and Juana Caliva. A Memorial Mass (no reception to follow) will take place on Friday, July 13, 2012 1:30pm at the San Juan Bautista Mission in San Juan Bautista, CA. A Celebration of Mike's Life and Reception will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 1pm to 5pm at the Northminster Presbyterian Church located at 315 E. Alvin Drive Salinas, CA 93906. The family requests that in-lieu of flowers, a donation be made in his name to Cancer research or VNA Hospice or if you see a homeless person, give them a dollar in memory of Mike, he never passed up the opportunity to share his blessings.

We Entrusted Mike Perez's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
