Jovan "Jovo" Nikola Tica, 94, of Yuba City, passed away peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family on Saturday, November 3rd. He was born on October 5th, 1924, in Trebinje, Yugoslavia. After fighting in World War II, he came home and married his childhood sweetheart in 1947. He immigrated to United States in 1971. He worked for the Spaich Brothers until he retired. He lived in Live Oak until 1998 and then moved to Yuba City. Jovo was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed daily walks around the neighborhood, gardening, and working around the family orchard. He loved to sing and tell stories about back home in Trebinje. He was a long time member of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Fair Oaks, CA. He will be remembered for his happy demeanor and love of life. He was a kind hearted man who made friends with everyone he ever encountered. Jovo is survived by his daughter, Milojka Ratkovic of Trebinje; sons, Milan (Betty) Tica of Live Oak; Nikola (Zorka) Tica of Yuba City; ten grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Petra; and his granddaughter, Tomislavka. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 7th, 2018, at 7:00pm. Funeral service will take place at 1:00pm on Thursday, November 8th, 2018, at Ullrey Memorial Chapel, located on 817 Almond St., Yuba City, CA 95993. Following the service, the burial will take place at Sutter Cemetery. Reception immediately following at Betty's Authentic Mexican Restaurant, located at 10180 Live Oak Blvd., Live Oak, CA 95953. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Serbian Orthodox Church, 7777 Sunset Ave., Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
