HAROLD LEE RICHINS Harold Lee Richins, 89, of Chico California, passed away unexpectedly Monday, May 11, 2015 in Sacramento. Harold was born December 24, 1925, in Gridley, California to Laura Dewsnup and Arthur Richins. He was a lifelong resident of Butte County. At age 17, Harold interrupted his education in Gridley by enlisting in the US Navy, in 1942. He served as a signalman on an "invasion force communication team", surviving four first-wave beach landings in the South Pacific. After his discharge, Harold married Bernadine Gay LaRose January 6, 1947 in Reno, Nevada. They are the parents of eight children. Harold worked for the California Department of Transportation for forty-six years, retiring in 1992. He loved his wife, family, gardening, sports, and was an avid golfer. He loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and loved to help, counsel, and serve, regardless of circumstance. In the many ways that he served others, he truly exemplified "The Good Samaritan". Harold was preceded in death by his parents, sister Melva, brothers, Raymond, Milton, Verland, Ralph, George, Louis, Warren and Alvin, his eldest child Stephen (Nancy) of Utah (2001) and his beloved wife Bernadine (2007). Harold is survived by one brother Melvin (Cleo) Gridley, CA and seven children; Donna Arvonen (Mark) of Chico, Stanley (Lynn) of Yuba City, Susan Frehner (Alf) of Nevada, Mark (Laura) of Colorado, Lori of Kansas, Ryan (Rhonda) of Kentucky, and Heather Kuhn (Ryan) of Kansas.
