Robert C. Ramirez
June 10th, 1940 - December 12th, 2018
Robert C. Ramirez, 78, lifelong resident of the Salinas Valley, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2018 in Salinas, surrounded by his loving family as he went home to be with the Lord. He was born on June 10, 1940 in Corona, California. He was one of six children to Louis and Mary Ramirez. He graduated from Salinas High School in 1960, where he ran track and received the Eddie King Memorial award. There is where he met the love of his life, Lydia Moreno, whom he married on July 28, 1962. They were blessed with 56 years of marriage! Robert began working at an early age and maintained that hard work ethic throughout his life. He worked at Firestone until the plant shut down in 1980. He then enrolled in carpentry and cabinet classes at Hartnell, where he became a knowledgeable craftsman. Robert proceeded to work at Weyerhaeuser/International paper as a machine operator for over 30 years. He continued his work ethics during his retirement by working at his home and in his garden with his wife. He always found time to lend a helping hand to his family’s homes as well. Robert was a beloved husband, father, papa, true gentleman and was blessed with many lifelong friends, whom he loved dearly and considered family. He has a very large extended family, who also call him papa. He loved watching all sports, hunting, working on cars and loved going to his children and grandchildren’s sporting and school events. He was a longtime parishioner of Madonna Del Sasso. His favorite past time was storytelling and most of all spending time with family. He always looked forward to the annual family vacation trip to Tahoe. Robert was so proud of all of his family member’s accomplishments and was happiest when they were all together. He was truly a patriarch to this group and loved his family above all else. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends he has made over his 78 years. Our thanks to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital and the doctors and nurses who cared for him for the last days of his life. We also wish to express our thanks and gratitude to everyone for their love, prayers and support at this difficult time. We Entrusted Robert Ramirez's Care To
Healey Mortuary
At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
