Herman, beloved husband, daddy and grandpa, was received into the arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 7, 2018. Herm was born in Oregon City to Herman B. and Marie Etzel and was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, Macksburg, Oregon. He was raised on a farm near Macksburg and graduated from Canby High School in 1956. He served in the Oregon National Guard. Herm worked 40 years for the Oregonian newspaper, ending his career as Asst. Superintendent of the night shift pressroom. Herm married Miki Brown in 1963 and they lived in a houseboat until they bought a home in the Rockwood area in 1964, where they raised their two daughters, Traci and Teri. They moved to their Linnemann Station condo in 2004, where Herm volunteered many hours and served on the Board of Directors for eleven years. As an avid golfer, Herm won several Club Championships while a member of Pleasant Valley G.C. and Willamette Valley C.C. Herm was a faithful, active member of Ascension Lutheran Church, holding many Church Council offices and working with the youth. Herm is survived by his wife, Miki, his daughter, Traci House (Allen), sister, Marcia Wittrock, brother, John Etzel (Norma), four granddaughters and two great grandsons. Celebration of Life Service will be held on March 17, 2018 at 1:00pm at the Ascension Lutheran Church, 1440 SE 182nd Ave., Portland, Oregon Private Inurnment Zion Memorial Cemetery, Canby, Oregon.
