Thomas Dale Hixson
December 30th, 1935 - January 22nd, 2016
Thomas Dale Hixson, born in Minneapolis, MN on December 30, 1935, passed in Chico, CA on January 22, 2016 at age 80. He had been a resident of Chico since 1989. He was predeceased by parents Dorr Hixson and Marion Pflaegher; his first wife of 50 years Carol Hixson, daughter Deborah Reimer, and son Kelly Hixson. Tom is survived by second wife Arlie Hixson, daughters Karen Hixson of San Diego, Thomasena Wolkoff (Peter) of Chico, Terry Wolkoff (Serge) of Chico, grandsons Rob Albright, Thomas Hixson, and Ryan Hixson of San Francisco and Monterrey. He graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco in 1953. Tom spent his working career in the San Francisco Bay area in the asbestos/insulation industry, where he was a 50 year member of Local 16. He retired as the Maritime Division supervisor in 1989. Tom was considered an expert witness in many asbestos related trails. He and his family loved RV'ing, being on the water and at 49'ers football. His favorite hobby, however, was auto racing and anything to do with his Sunbeam Tiger. Funeral services are set for January 29, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 435 Chestnut Street, Chico, CA. A rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. prior to mass. Interment will follow at Chico Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Kidney Foundation, the Mesothelioma Foundation or a favorite charity. Funeral arrangements are being handled through Brusie Funeral Home, Chico.
